Three main types of solar power systems: on-grid, off-grid and hybrid.

  1. On-grid systems are connected to the main electrical grid, allowing excess electricity generated to be fed back into the grid. This enables users to earn credits or receive payments for the energy they contribute. On-grid systems are ideal for those who want to reduce their electricity bills and contribute to the overall energy supply.
  2. off-grid solar power systems are not connected to the main grid. These systems are typically used in remote areas or locations where accessing the main grid is not feasible. Off-grid systems rely on batteries to store excess electricity generated during the day, which can be used during times when there is insufficient sunlight.
  3. Hybrid solar energy systems are used in areas frequent power outages where photovoltaic self-use can not get the remaining electricity online, where the self-use price is much more expensive than the on-grid price, and the peak price is much more expensive than the trough price.  The advantage of the system is that it can receive government subsidies and can generate electricity independently when public power is interrupted.
